What is Keno?
Keno is a lottery-style casino game where the objective is to guess the numbers that will be drawn. There is a total of 80 balls that are used to pick out numbers randomly. However, each draw only picks out 20 numbers. What’s more, you as the players will only have to select a maximum of ten numbers which you think will be called out. This is why it is considered to be a lottery-style casino game. The game of keno was introduced in China and it moved to the United States in the 1800s.
How do I play Keno?
When playing a land-based casino, you will visit the keno lounge and get a keno ticket where you will mark the numbers you want to bet on. Then, you will submit your card and the money you want to wager at the keno desk. You will be given the wagered ticket and you wait for the time when the numbers will be called out. With each number that is called out, you mark it off on your card and take it to the keno desk to claim your winnings.
These days many casinos have keno terminal where you can buy the keno ticket. They work similarly to how you would be playing keno online. You select a card on the machine and choose your numbers and you can submit your ticket, and the machine will randomly select winning numbers and award your winnings if necessary.
What are Keno Payouts?
Your payouts for winning numbers will depend on how many numbers you have picked and also how many numbers you have matched. The payouts also differ because of the casino that you are playing from. See the table below for an example of the payouts:

How do you Beat Keno?
There are a few tips that you can follow if you want to beat keno. See below:
- Play at a casino that has good payouts.
- Choose numbers between four and eight.
- Play for free to test out the game before playing for real money.
- Play consecutive numbers which are also known as cold ones.
What are the Odds of Winning Keno?
There is a 1 in 4 chance of winning a keno game. This translates to a 25% house edge, meaning that you must prepare to lose $25 when you wager $100.
How Many Numbers do you Need to Win?
Pick more numbers to win because there will be more chances to make a match as compared to betting only on one number. If you bet $1 and pick one number, your potential payout is $3 compared to if you choose five numbers where your payout will be $50.
Are there any Good Keno Strategies?
Keno is a random game of luck and there are no strategies that can help you lower the house edge. However, this does not mean that you can’t use strategies when playing keno. You can also use the hot and cold numbers strategy where you check the numbers that are frequently picked and those that are not. This will help you choose your next numbers better.
