Editorial Policy for US Player Check
This policy sets out how US Player Check produces, checks, and publishes content, and how we keep our reviews independent from the casinos we cover. It applies to every review, guide, and news article on this site.
Our Core Commitments
Everything we publish is built on four commitments:
- Independence: no casino operator can buy a better rating or a higher spot on a list
- Accuracy: every claim is checked against a primary source before it goes live
- Transparency: we disclose affiliate relationships and correct errors openly
- Responsibility: we take the risks of gambling seriously and write accordingly
Who Owns This Policy
Margaret Cooper, Head Content Writer, is the named owner of this editorial policy. She sets the standards below and is responsible for enforcing them across every piece of content published on US Player Check.
This policy is formally reviewed quarterly, or sooner if our practices change or a state changes its gambling regulations.
Editorial Independence
US Player Check earns affiliate commission (payment we receive from a casino operator when a visitor signs up through one of our links, at no extra cost to the visitor) from some of the operators we review. This income does not influence our ratings.
A casino cannot pay for a better review, a higher ranking, or a rating it did not earn during testing. Our scoring is based entirely on what we find during our own review process, which is set out in full on our How We Rate page.
Separation From Advertising
Editorial content and paid content are kept separate:
- Any sponsored or paid placement (content or a listing position a casino has paid for directly, separate from ordinary affiliate commission) is clearly labeled as such
- Affiliate links are disclosed on every page where they appear
- Advertisers have no input into how a casino is scored, described, or ranked
The full breakdown of our affiliate relationships is on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Our Content Standards
| Parameter | Standard |
| Content types we publish | Casino reviews, bonus guides, game guides, banking guides, and US gambling news |
| Tone and style | Plain, direct language, free of unnecessary jargon |
| Review process | Draft, fact-check, editor review, before anything is published |
| Update cadence | Reviews are revisited when licensing, bonus terms, or payout data change; this policy is reviewed quarterly |
| Conflicts of interest | Any contributor with a personal or financial conflict of interest is recused from that review, and the work is reassigned |
| Diversity and inclusivity | Content is written for players of all backgrounds and experience levels, not a single type of player |
| Originality | All content is checked for plagiarism and written specifically for US Player Check |
| AI use | All content is 100% human-written by our team |
Sourcing and Fact-Checking
Every review is checked against primary sources before publication, including:
- State gambling regulators, such as the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the Michigan Gaming Control Board, and the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection
- The casino operator’s own published licensing and terms
- Direct testing, using real deposits and real withdrawals, rather than relying on marketing claims
Our fact-checking is led by researchers such as Jordie Hillcreek, who verifies licensing details, payout data, and bonus terms before anything is published.
Conflicts of Interest
If a contributor has a personal or financial connection to a casino operator, they are recused from writing or editing content about that operator, and the work is reassigned to someone without a conflict.
Margaret Cooper, as the named policy owner, is responsible for identifying and resolving conflicts of interest that arise, and can be reached through our Contact page.
Our Team
Our reviews are produced by a team of writers, researchers, and fact-checkers with hands-on experience testing real money casinos. Full team credentials are on our About Us page.
Corrections and Accountability
If you spot something you believe is inaccurate, email us at social@usplayercheck.com with the page and the specific detail in question.
