Live 3 Card Poker Rules

Three-card poker is the only variation of poker that’s played with 3 cards. The other variations namely, Texas Holdem, Omaha, Caribbean Stud Poker and Triple Draw Poker, are other popular variations played with 5 cards instead of 3.

The rules of the game are easy to follow, especially once you’ve gained confidence in playing the game. Those new to 3 card poker might find the rules confusing at first, but with our guide, you should be able to master the game in no time.

The game officially begins when every player makes their ante bet at the start of the game. The dealer will accept all bets and announce when no more bets are allowed.

Thereafter, the dealer will give every player 3 cards, including himself. After checking their cards, every player will decide whether to play or fold. To play means to continue the game, while folding means you’d like to leave the game because the cards you’ve been dealt are useless.

If you decide to play, you must make a second bet equal to the ante bet initially placed.

Once all decisions are in and players have made their next moves, the dealer will reveal his hand and compare it to the hands of all the other players, including yours. Those with the highest-ranking hand will be paid out while the house collects all losing bets.

If the dealer wants to resume play, they must have a high queen card or something of higher value. If the dealer wins the round, you will lose your wager(s). If the dealer chooses to fold, you will be paid out even money for your ante bet.

A tie is another possible outcome in the game. If this is the case, that round will end, no one loses, and no one wins.
