How to Read UFC Odds
Three leading odds can be used in all MMA sports. The standard form of betting in the UFC is the moneyline as the sport requires bettors to bet on who will essentially win the fight.
American UFC Odds Explained
The American odds in the UFC is equivalent to the moneyline bet in other sports. The sports betting odds are calculated according to how much money you bet with to win. A positive or negative number accompanies the odds. The fighter with the positive odds is considered the underdog. The fighter with negative odds is regarded as the favourite.
Fighter A -200
Fighter B +150
If you bet on fighter A, you will have to bet $200 to win $100. Bettors who have wagered on fighter B will have to bet $100 to win 150. Bettors may come across a fight where both fighters have negative odds, and that only happens when matched opponents are up for a fight. This is rare but it does happen.
Decimal Odds Explained
The decimal odds are popular in countries outside North America and are also known as European odds. The decimal odds are easy to understand once you get the hang of the calculations. Both the bettors’ stake and profit are included in the odds that are assigned to the fighter.
Example: Henry Cejudo 1.30
If bettors bet $100 on Cejudo at odds of 1.30, they would win $130. To calculate how much you would win, multiply your stake by the odds. 100 x 1.30 = $130. The $130 includes the bettors’ stake and the profits. Bettors would have won their $100 stake back and $30 profit.

Fractional Odds Explained
Bettors will recognize fractional odds from horse racing as they are popular in the sports. The odds may seem a little complicated at first; however, they aren’t as hard to understand. The odds are displayed as a fraction so that Amanda Nunes odds would be displayed as 10/5 (ten to five).
To calculate your return on a $100 bet,
- Add the numbers of the odds fraction together. 10 + 5 =15
- Divide the answer by the second number in the fraction. 15 dived by 5 = 3
- Multiply the answer by your stake. 3 x $100 = $300
Over/Under Odds Explained
Over/under odds are also popularly known as MMA totals. The sportsbook sets a total and bettors will place bets on whether a fight will be finished over or under the set overall. Usually, the sportsbook will set 1.5 rounds for a fight that is three rounds and 2.5 rounds for a fight that is five rounds.
Example the sportsbook will set the total to 2,5 in a Conor McGregor vs Jon Jones fight. If bettors place bets that the fight will go under 2.5 and Conor Kos Jon, then bettors will win the bet if Jon lasts longer than 2.5 then bettors will lose the bet.
Other Betting Markets\
Significant MMA events offer bettors prop bets, which are tons of fun, and they are profitable. Bettors can place bets on whether Jon will win by strikes or what round the fight will end
Bettors can place bets on how they think the fight will end, method of victory. Will the fight end in a physical or verbal tap out? Will the fight in a knockout or technical knockout?
